Michael Jackson is set to moonwalk one more time in a new video game that features his likeness and actual voice.
Rumours of an unreleased video game starring the Smooth Criminal have been rife in recent weeks. However, the latest news is that Jacko’s own firm, MJJ Productions, has been working on the game for several months, with Jackson himself even finding the time to record a few voice-over lines prior to his untimely demise on June 25th.
Other details are sketchy, to say the very least, although a Christmas 09 home console release is apparently scheduled and it is understood that the game will feature a number of the star’s most iconic hits. An MJJ productions worker has remarked “I am sure it will still be released. Michael loved games”.
Of that you can be sure. Jackson’s personal collection of full-sized arcade cabinets is enough to fill several pier-end amusement parks, as a recent auction catalogue more than proved. Of course, MJ’s video game appearances are the stuff of legend too – see our recent ‘Jacko: A Life in Games’ blog (here) for more about that.
Moreover, with Jackson singles and albums dominating their respective charts and unreleased videos and tracks waiting in the wings, the lucrative Michael Jackson industry is set to roll on, and there’s little doubt that video games will form part of it. The 1990 Mega Drive hit ‘Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker’ would be a welcome re-issue for Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 download. Meantime it looks more than likely that the new, as-yet untitled game will get a release. We sincerely hope so anyway, as we can’t wait to play it!
